The Edition No. 19

US technology stocks slid on Thursday, with the Nasdaq falling more than 2% as quarterly results from Tesla and Meta did little to ease worries about the enormous cost of building AI infrastructure and the uncertain timeline for returns, Reuters reported. Meta dropped more than 5% after unveiling a new class of non-voting shares to help fund its costly AI expansion, despite stronger-than-expected quarterly revenue, while Tesla cut its annual capital expenditure forecast. The Philadelphia semiconductor index fell 5.6% to its lowest level since July 29, with Nvidia and Amazon each down more than 3%, a sharp reversal from Wednesday’s AI-fuelled rally.
